This guide is all you need to fix an LPE connection issue. If you have not set up LDAP authentication on your server, this guide will walk you through the process. If you are not, then skip this section. First, click on the LDAP Auth link on the administration page. Once there, do the following: Enable LDAP Authentication Fill in your LDAP Server Name. Make sure you use the entire server name, including "http" or "ldap". For example, if it is an AD server running on ad.example.com, you would enter "ad.example.com" Select your matching fields for "Display Name", "Email Address", and "First Name". Spiceworks will not populate the first two.Enter your user "dn" or Distinguished Name for authentication. If you want to authenticate all users, you can leave this blank. Enter the "Base DN" which is essentially a folder in Active Directory that contains all of your users. It's common to refer to this as the "Schema". Leave it at the default if you are unsure what directory your AD stores users in. If you have enabled extra fields for Spiceworks administration purposes such as name, department, etc., then enter those values here as well. Hit Save. Once you did these steps, you must refresh Spiceworks to see both of your new LDAP users. You can also view the "Authenticated Users" on the Users tab in the Administration Page.You will still need to set up LDAP authentication for your users on their respective computers using Active Directory Users and Computers. For example, if you want to deploy LDAP authentication with Spiceworks to everybody's machine, you could do that by doing the following on each computer: Install an LDAP client such as pam_ldap on all employees' computers.
